About the Filmmaker:

KAREN CHAPMAN

Born in Toronto, Canada to Guyanese parents, Karen Chapman is an award -winning filmmaker committed to crafting visually driven stories. Karen studied and graduated from Emily Carr University where she went on to focus on storytelling at the Banff Centre for the Arts.

Karen was recently commissioned by the Canada Arts Council to create a short film about Governor General Awards winner, Shelley Niro. And she is in post production for another commission from the Hot Docs Film Festival, commemorating Canada’s 150th year of Confederation. Karen won the Caribbean Film Academy’s International screenwriting competition and is eager to begin filming in Guyana.
