BREAKING THE CYCLE

‘Breaking the Cycle’ looks at the life of Camika who survived 20 years of an abusive marriage. Abandoned by her father and hurt by men she trusted as a teen, led her to seek love and protection from the man she would marry. But her saviour turned her nightmare and she found herself trapped in an abusive relationship. After 20 years and seven children - she realised that she had to make a decision to leave and to break the cycle of violence. Now working hard to help other victims of domestic abuse she still struggles trying to repair the impact of the years of abuse on her children.

Miquel Galofré is a filmmaker from Barcelona based in Trinidad & Tobago. He spent the last decade filming Caribbean documentaries about social issues. His trilogy of Jamaican documentaries travelled all around the world. He is also a photographer and produces commercials with his company T&T ROCKS.
